What is the meaning of Rizq and why do we want more Rizq?
Rizq, an Islamic term for sustenance, are the blessings from Allah that every single one of us would want more of. It can come in every aspect of our lives.
Our daily sustenance is rizq from Allah. Our children, parents, friends and all our loved ones are rizq from Allah.
Although people often associate rizq with money, it’s actually much more than that. When you look into your life, every single person, possession and even the events that happen in your life are rizq from Allah.
So before you ask ‘what is the best dua for more rizq, dua to increase rizq, wealth and sustenance as soon as possible’, why not look at the habits you need to practice in your life so that you can bring more rizq into your life.
The Quran and Sunnah has all the answers. Let’s get into it. 🙂
What is the importance of Sadaqah in increasing rizq?
Prophet Muhammad SAW taught us that…
“If you were to rely upon Allah with reliance due to Him, then He would provide for you just as He provides for the birds. They go out in the morning hungry and return in the evening full.” – Sunan At-Tirmidhi 2344
Sadaqah is an act of kindness which involves acts of charity. Understanding how giving Sadaqah (charity) can increase your Rizq (sustenance) is a topic that many believers find intriguing yet somewhat mysterious.
While the direct cause-and-effect relationship may not be immediately apparent, there are underlying principles in Islam that shed light on this matter.
Fun fact: Did you know that even a smile is a form of Sadaqah? It’s true, so be sure to smile more so that you are giving sadaqah everywhere you go. 🙂
Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Do not belittle any good deed, even meeting your brother with a cheerful face.” – Sahih Muslim 2626
1. Trust in Allah’s Promise:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.” – Quran 2:261
Firstly, it’s essential to recognize that giving Sadaqah isn’t just about parting with your wealth; it’s an act of faith and obedience to Allah. This is the essence of Sadaqah. And it is a common practice of the Prophet SAW.
By fulfilling this duty, you’re demonstrating your trust in Allah’s promise to provide for you abundantly. This act of trust can create a positive mindset that attracts more blessings and opportunities into your life.
Giving Sadaqah demonstrates your trust in Allah’s promise to provide for you abundantly.
2. Attracting Blessings:
”And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine. And if anyone puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him. For Allah will surely accomplish his purpose: verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion.” – Quran 65:3
Giving Sadaqah is believed to bring Barakah (blessings) into your wealth and provisions.
Think of it as an investment in your spiritual portfolio. When you invest in acts of kindness and generosity, you’re essentially diversifying your assets in the sight of Allah. And just like a diversified financial portfolio yields better returns, diversifying your good deeds through Sadaqah can lead to increased blessings and provisions.
Sadaqah brings Barakah (blessings) into your wealth and provisions, attracting more goodness into your life.
3. Purification of Wealth:
Sadaqah serves as a means of seeking forgiveness and purification of wealth. By giving generously, you’re cleansing your wealth from any impurities or negative energies that may hinder its growth.
This purification process can pave the way for a smoother flow of provisions into your life. By giving generously, you purify your wealth from negativity, allowing for a smoother flow of provisions.
“And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage. All is in a clear register.” – Quran 11:6
4. Investment in Eternal Rewards:
Consider Sadaqah Jariyah, ongoing charity that benefits others even after you’re gone, as an investment in perpetual blessings for yourself in this life and the Hereafter. This is an important concept.
By investing in projects or initiatives that have a lasting impact, you’re sowing the seeds of goodness that can bear fruit for generations to come. And just as a tree provides shade and sustenance, your continuous charity can yield perpetual blessings and provisions for you, both in this life and the
Hereafter. This is in our Islamic teachings.
5. Spiritual Diversification:
“And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.” – Quran 76:8
Like diversifying your financial portfolio for better returns, diversify your good deeds through Sadaqah for increased blessings. Just give for the sake of Allah.
6. Fulfillment of Religious Duty:
“Those who spend their wealth [in Allah’s way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly – they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.” – Quran 2:274
Giving Sadaqah isn’t just about money; it’s fulfilling a religious obligation that leads to spiritual growth and fulfillment. Our sole purpose in life is to please Allah SWT through doing good deeds sincerely for Him.
7. Openness to Abundance:
“And whatever you have of favor – it is from Allah. Then when adversity touches you, to Him you cry for help.” – Quran 16:53
Giving Sadaqah isn’t merely a financial transaction; it’s a spiritual investment with profound implications. By embracing this practice with sincerity and intentionality, you’re not only fulfilling a religious obligation but also opening yourself up to a world of blessings and abundance beyond measure.
So, keep giving generously, trusting in Allah’s promise, and watch as your Rizq flourishes in ways you never imagined possible. Embrace the practice of giving generously, trusting in Allah’s promise, and watch as your Rizq flourishes in unexpected ways.
By following these points and incorporating the practice of Sadaqah into your life, you not only fulfill a religious obligation but also open yourself up to a world of blessings and abundance beyond measure.
Different Types of Sadaqah & Examples of Sadaqah
1. Sadaqah al-Fitr:
This is like a special charity you give before Eid, so everyone can enjoy the celebrations, especially those who might not have enough.
2. Sadaqah al-Jariyah:
It’s like making a good investment for the future. When you do something like build a school or dig a well, it keeps helping people even after you’re gone.
3. Zakat:
This is one of the pillars of Islam. It’s a bit like paying taxes, but for a good cause. You give a small portion of your savings each year to help people in need, like the poor, orphans, and others.
4. General Sadaqah:
This is just regular acts of kindness, like giving money or food to someone who needs it, or helping out in any way you can. You can even help a homeless person or an elderly person cross the street. Anything that is a simple yet kind gesture.
5. Sadaqah for Specific Purposes:
Sometimes, you might want to help with a particular cause, like supporting kids’ education or helping after a disaster and providing medical care. That’s also a form of Sadaqah.
6. Sadaqah through Service:
It’s not just about giving money; you can also help by volunteering your time or skills, or just being there for someone who needs a helping hand. These are acts of sadaqah.
Basically, Sadaqah is all about being kind and generous to others in any way you can, whether it’s through giving money, time, or support for the pleasure of Allah SWT.
Do you know what is the best Sadaqah?
I’ll give you a clue. It doesn’t require any money.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.” – Sahih Muslim 2588
Turns out that forgiving others is more beloved to Allah as a form of charity. 🙂
What else increases Rizq in Islam?
#1 Tip to Increase Rizq in Islam:
Be a Morning Person
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `O Allah, bless my ummah in its early mornings.”
(Musnad Ahmad)
I know, being a morning person is a lot harder than just making dua for Rizq. If you’re not a natural morning person, it can be quite hard to kick in the habit. But Islam encourages us to be early risers.
Allah made the Fajr prayer mandatory for a reason. We are obligated to wake up in the early hours of the morning and prostrate to our Lord, why is that?
I bet it’s not for us to go straight back to bed right after, but to start our day early and be successful with a barakah-filled morning.

#2 Tip to Increase Rizq in Islam:
Pray on Time
My teacher once said, “Salah is like a doctor’s medical prescription to his patient, you need to take the right dose at the right time, if you take five pills at once instead of dividing it throughout the day, you might damage your body instead of healing it.”
This is the importance of Salah. Our 5 daily prayers are our spiritual prescription from Allah.
We need to constantly check in on our iman with Allah throughout the day. It keeps our spirituality alive and disconnects us from this dunya from time to time so that we won’t forget that our final destination is akhirah and Jannatul Firdaus InsyaAllah. 🙂
When we take care of our obligation to Allah, insyaAllah He will take care of our rizq. No amount of dua for rizq or money can replace your Salah. So look into your Salah first before making a lot of dua for rizq.
#3 Tip to Increase Rizq in Islam:
Istighfar 70x/day
Istighfar has many benefits but if you truly want more rizq in your life, Istighfar is a must. Not only does it clean your heart, but Allah will also give you rizq from places you never expected.
If you make dua for rizq, Allah will grant it more if you have a clean heart. InsyaAllah.
#4 Tip to Increase Rizq in Islam:
Give Sadaqah (charity) often
Sadaqah is a great magnet to get more of whatever you want in this life. If you want more wealth, give more of it away to Sadaqah. If you want more happiness or fulfillment in life, make others happy.

#5 Tip to Increase Rizq in Islam:
Have Taqwa/ Consciousness of Allah
“Whoever has taqwa of his Lord and maintains ties of kinship, his term of life will be prolonged, his wealth will be abundant, and his family will love him.”
(Hassan Al-Bani)
What is the meaning of taqwa? Taqwa means having consciousness of Allah in every step we take in our daily lives. And it is the highest form of rizq.
Before making any kind of dua for rizq, you’d want Allah to give you the best and highest form of Taqwa. It is the only thing that separates our status in the eyes of Allah, not our looks, wealth, or children.
Making dua for rizq with a heart full of taqwa is the best way to get your dua granted, insyaAllah. Believe that Allah can give you the most beautiful rizq from places you don’t even expect.
#6 Dua for Rizq in Islam:
Recite Prophet Sulaiman’s dua
Of course you’d have to make dua for rizq. But there are specific duas you can make for specific rizq. The best duas are from the Quran itself.
Here’s a specific dua of Prophet Sulaiman a.s asking for abundance.
“My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants.” (Surah Naml Ayat 19)
“My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower.” (Surah Sad Ayat 35)
You can recite this dua while making your daily prayers.
#7 Tip to Increase Rizq in Islam:
Pray Tahajjud
Tahajjud is a very personal prayer for me. When you wake up on the 3rd of the night solely to pray to your Lord, it creates that special bond between you and your Maker. You can cry to Him, let out your worries, ask for your deepest desires and just be yourself with Him.
“And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.” (Surah Al-Isra Ayat 79)
For me, I won’t get this kind of deep connection with Allah during any other time of the day other than Qiyam, so it’s a really special moment to look forward to.
When you’re prostrating to Allah in the night, ask Him for everything your heart desires including the dua for rizq. There’s no limit to what Allah can provide for you. He has all the answers and He is ever so Merciful to us that He can grant any dua for rizq you ask of Him. insyaAllah.
Just ask Him. 🙂
#8 Tip to Increase Rizq in Islam:
Pray Duha
The Duha prayer is a voluntary 2 or 4-Rakaat prayer done anytime between sunrise to Zuhr prayer (around 8am -12pm). There are many benefits to praying Duha but in the specific topic of Rizq, Allah says He will give you sufficiency in Rizq throughout your day.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Allah the Exalted says: ‘O Son of Adam, do not be heedless of praying 4 rakʿahs for Me in the beginning of your day and (as a result) I shall be your sufficiency at its end.” (At-Tirmidhi 475)
#9 Tip to Increase Rizq in Islam:
Be grateful
Being grateful is hands down the most essential thing you need when it comes to increasing your Rizq. The fact that you are making dua for rizq from Allah is already a sign of a grateful heart.
It will give you the most impact when you start changing your life for the better.
I recently read an article about the scarcity mindset vs the abundance mindset. It gave me perspective on how having a scarcity mindset actually goes to show that you are not grateful enough.
You constantly feel like this world does not have enough to make you satisfied therefore you become greedy OR undeserving over whatever it is that you fear is limited in the world, whether it be money, love and even happiness in general.
To me, having a scarcity mindset seems like one is putting a cap on Allah’s power (nauzubillah). While we may develop a scarcity mindset due to personal limitations, we cannot define success or happiness in general based on our efforts alone. Everything happens by the grace and permission of Allah.
Your dua for rizq can only be granted by The Al-Mighty Himself.
So when we rely on Allah (instead of ourselves) and attribute our successes in life to His power, there’s actually no limit to what we can achieve (by the grace of Allah of course). Our job as His slaves is to only do our best and keep being grateful for everything He has given us no matter how small.
We can’t take credit for anything.
#10 Tip to Increase Rizq in Islam:
Fulfill other’s needs
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever relieves a Muslim of some worldly distress, Allah will relieve him of some of the distress of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever conceals (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will conceal him (his faults) in this world and the Day of Resurrection. And whoever relieves the burden from a destitute person, Allah will relieve him in this world and the next. Allah will help His slave so long as His slave helps his brother…”
(Sahih Ibn Majah)
You know what people say, “The more you give, the more you get.” I think this is the secret to life.
Whatever you want more of, just give more of it first. You want to feel loved, spread love to others. You want happiness, make others happy. You want more money, give more money to charity or Sadaqah.
It’s really that simple.
Extra Tips:
Which Surah is beneficial for Money?
Recite Al-Waqiah before bed as Dua for Rizq
The Prophet of Allah suggested that whoever would recite surah Al-Waqiah at night he would never face poverty in his lifetime. (Ibn Sunni 620)
Surah Al-Waqiah is the Surah of Wealth, so you need to recite yourself and teach it to your children. (Ibn Kathir).
How do you get Barakah in Wealth?
Work hard through Halal Means
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “A time will come when one will not care how one gains one’s money, legally or illegally.”
(Sahih Bukhari)
Of course, we can’t just keep making dua for rizq without working for it. While fulfilling our daily duties to Allah, we must work hard to provide for ourselves through halal means.
People can get away with the haram in this dunya, but not in the akhirah. But there is no barakah in that. If you truly want a barakah-filled life, one that pleases Allah, you have to make sure your income and every other financial gain are from halal means.
Tawaqal
Once you’ve done your best (and you would know 😉 ), you need to turn to Allah and allow Him to do His magic. That’s how I like to put it. 🙂
And by that, I mean you need to let go of the outcome, not worry about it and fully trust Allah’s plans for you because it is entirely by the grace of Allah that you receive what He permits you to receive.
After you’ve practiced all these habits that will please Allah and made all the dua for rizq. Don’t be upset if you still don’t get the outcome that you want.
“And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.” (Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 3)
Allah will definitely give you something, but it may not be the same thing that you’ve always wanted. Don’t worry. Believe that Allah will always give the best to you, even if you may not see the value right now.
Whatever you receive in return is already the best outcome that Allah Himself has chosen for you, so you need to be okay with it.
Occasionally, we may feel frustrated or bummed when we don’t get something we’ve truly worked hard for but we should always reflect on it and see if it is truly what’s best for us, what’s best for our deen, our family and our overall well being.
Sometimes, Allah withholds something from us because it is actually not what’s best for us, we just don’t know it yet. So we need to reconnect with Allah and find out the hikmah or blessing behind it. 🙂
Conclusion on increasing your Rizq
“… Allah is the best of providers.” (Surah Al-Jumuah Ayat 11)
Working hard and making dua for rizq can help you increase your Rizq and life abundance insyaAllah. But always remember to please Allah first in everything you do, if you are just practicing these ibadahs to pursue the dunya only, you will not gain Allah’s pleasure and that is a BIG loss.
Don’t lose focus. Please Allah first and He will take care of the rest. insyaAllah
All the best!
Love and Salam,
Aimi

HI, could you please explain more on “My teacher once said, “Salah is like a doctor’s medical prescription to his patient, you need to take the right dose at the right time, if you take five pills at once instead of dividing it throughout the day, you might damage your body instead of healing it.””. Many thanks. I have bookmarked your website for future use.
amyfeeqah says
Hi and Salam Ravishankar. Thank you for asking. Salah is our daily spiritual prayer to constantly improve the state of our spiritual ‘health’ or connection with Allah. So the idea is like a doctor prescribing medicine to her patient. The patient has to take the medicine at the prescribed time with the right dose in order to improve her health. Likewise, we have to perform Salah at the right time with the right rakaats exactly as Allah has ‘prescribed’ for us daily. Only then can we improve our spiritual ‘health’. Not doing so may even jeopardize our health, in this case – our spiritual ‘health’.
Hope this helps. May Allah give you clarity. Ameen.
